Two Timely Articles on U.S. Public Attitudes toward Iran, and on the Afghan War
Below please find links to two timely articles:
The first is on American public opinion toward Iran policy, which shows that three-quarters of Americans do not believe that American interests warrant war with Iran, and a majority blame the Trump administration's policies for increased tension in the Gulf over the past few months. It is currently appearing in Foreign Policy. Please find that article here.
The second article, which appears in the Washington Post's Monkey Cage, analyzes American public opinion toward the war in Afghanistan in light of the Washington Post's Afghanistan Papers suggesting that both Republican and Democratic administrations misled the public on the war. Our public opinion poll shows the possible impact on American public opinion. Please find that article here.

On January 8, the Foreign Policy program at the Brookings Institution held a poll release and panel discussion looking at how the Japanese and American publics view the threats and the options available to deal with North Korea, including military options. Two new polls - one in Japan, carried out by Japan's The Genron NPO, and one in the United States, carried out by the University of Maryland's Critical Issues Poll with Nielsen Scarborough - probed Japanese and American attitudes, asking identical questions.
